Built for Change

ABOUT ME

If COVID has taught us two things, it’s that change is not just inevitable, it’s often unforEseen, and its pace is accelerating exponentially. Yesterday’s always-on world now has to be always flexible, always agile and always expecting the unexpected.

And nowhere is this more true than in the world of marketing. Only a few years ago companies touted their channel centric, top-down, content-creating, data-driven marketing models, aimed at persuading customers to try, buy and love their products and services.

Today, it’s all change. Consumers, not brands, hold the power, create the content, make or break reputations in an instant, and engage with marketing on their own terms, not ours.

Which is why brands will have a clear choice: put marketing at the center of the organization, or be one of the thousands of brands who will lose out in the post-COVID world.

In this brave, new accelerated world, the winners will be the brands who are comfortable with ambiGuity, who embrace that marketing is, and has to be, a fusion of art and science.

The winners will be the marketers who see themselves as edge-pushers, challengers, and calculated takers of risk. The agile, unafraid, unapologetic and open-minded change makers. Those who act fast, fail forward and test and learn, adapt.

But, most of all, the winners will Be those who express a clear point of view, who drive their brand’s stories from a base of authenticity and passion, and who put storytelling at the center of their brand ecosystem.

This is a nutshell, is what drives me, and has driven me throughout my 20+ years in marketing. I am built for change. I don’t just embrace it, I seek it out. But not just change for change’s sake. Change as a tool and vehicle to achieve the seemingly impossible. Change to increase marketing efficiency and efficacy. Change to cause radical reappraisal within, and outside, the organization. Change to propel a brand’s story into cultural conversation.

I love marketing. Today’s marketing world is full of chaos and controversy, and I am ok with that, as I believe that a marketing leaders role is to create elegant simplicity out of complexity, stories out of data, and high performing teams out of brilliant individuals.

I am an award-winning brand storytellER and Creative Leader. Over the past 20+ years I have worked at the intersection of brand, advocacy and Storytelling, across fields as diverse as financial services, Democratic politics, Healthcare and nonprofit start-ups. I believe in making change happen, rather than letting change happen to the people I work with. And yes, I would love to be that marketing change catalyst at your firm.
